September 26, 2022 Earlier this month, we received a special donation in the mail! ZooMontana, which is located in Billings, MT, has a special donation program called 'Quarters for Conservation.' Each month an employee chooses a conservation program they'd like to support, and ZooMontana guests are told about the month's cause and asked to round up their purchases. The Birds of Prey Festival in Kalispell, MT, is coming up soon! Join ORI on September 17 at Lone Pine State Park in Kalispell, Montana, and celebrate all things raptors! VIDEO- Sexing Snowy Owl Chicks
September 14, 2022 This video shares information about how researchers at the Owl Research Institute (ORI) determine the sex of Snowy Owl chicks by looking at wing feathers. This method was developed by ORI biologists and published in 2011. The photographs and video footage feature the 6 chicks from the single Snowy Owl nest we found in our study area in 2022.
