VIDEO- July 27, 2022 Snowy Owl Nesting Update
Inclement weather conditions in Utqiagvik, Alaska have had the ORI research team held up at our field station! Rain, sleet, and snow has been unremitting, setting a record daily rainfall of 1.42 inches in Utqiagvik on July 26.
As viewers have seen, the Snowy Owl pair have been enduring the weather: the female remains on the nest, hunkered down in the rain, and the male regularly delivers prey. A break in the weather should come soon, and our researchers can get back to work.
