MONTANA OWL IDENTIFICATION GUIDE

This guide was developed to help Montana residents identify the owls they might encounter on their property, in their barns, or as they spend time outdoors. We will soon expand to include the owls that live and breed in all of North America and Canada as well.

The guide, Identification of Montana's Owls, was written by Denver W. Holt and Dale M. Becker, and illustrated by Joe Thornbrugh. It is reproduced from Montana Outdoors, Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks ©1990.

Following are species ID pages in PDF format for easy download. Just click on any owl to pull up the information. We hope this helps you identify and understand the owls that live near you!
